Overview of Union Budget 2022

  • The Economic Survey projected growth in the GDP of 8-8.5 per cent for Financial Year 2023
  • This budget also laid the foundation and gave a blueprint of the economy over ‘Amrit Kaal’ for the next 25 years from India at 75 to India at 100
  • The priority areas of the budget were these four Priority Areas, i.e., PM Gati Shakti Plan; Inclusive Development, Productivity Enhancement & Investment, Sunrise Opportunities, Energy Transition, and Climate Action; and, Financing of Investments.
  • RBI to introduce Digital Rupee using Blockchain and other technologies starting 2022-23
  • Allowing Taxpayers to File Updated Return within 2 Years for correcting errors

Star Highlight of Budget 2022

This budget laid the foundation and gave a blueprint of the economy over ‘Amrit Kaal’ for the next 25 years from India at 75 to India at 100. This budget has a sharp increase in public investment and capital expenditure. It is beneficial for the youth, women, farmers, and the backward classes. The priority areas of the budget were these four Priority Areas, i.e., PM Gati Shakti Plan; Inclusive Development, Productivity Enhancement & Investment, Sunrise Opportunities, Energy Transition, and Climate Action; and, Financing of Investments.

Know Your Judiciary

  1. In 1999, the Indian government awarded him the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian award.
  2. Several universities have honored him with honorary Doctor of Law degrees, including the Faculty of Law at the University of Delhi, the National Law School of India University, the Government Law College in Mumbai, the University of Calcutta, and his alma mater, Punjab University.
  3. The Supreme Court Bar Association awarded him with a plaque honoring him as a “Living Legend of Law” on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
  4. After Justice Khanna’s death, his family organized a series of lectures, which lasted for a few years until being stopped. Soli Sorabjee, a close friend, presided over the gatherings.
  5. The H.R. Khanna Memorial Lecture is also held at the KIIT Law School. Gopal Subramaniam gave the first one in 2011, on the topic “Legal and Political Processes in Modern Indian Democracy.”
